For Architect of the Year and Young Architect of the Year Awards, nominees must be licensed architects in Colorado and members of AIA Colorado. Nominees do not have to be licensed architects to apply for or receive the Associate Architect of the Year Award, but they must be AIA Colorado members. For team awards, eligible firms must have an office located in the state of Colorado and a principal, or principals, must be members of AIA Colorado.

To be eligible, firms or individuals must abide by the AIA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. AIA Colorado also encourages everyone in the profession to be familiar with the Guides for Equitable Practice. See required disclaimers at the end of the instruction  packet.

Call For Housing Committee Volunteers

AIA Colorado seeks member volunteers to serve on a new committee that embodies the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Committees like this are organized under four overarching themes of Policy Impact, Practice Advancement, Career Leadership and Community Outreach to move the profession forward. We encourage candidates from a variety of perspectives and backgrounds including career stage, firm size, practice type, location, and personal demographics. Volunteering with AIA Colorado is a great way to use leadership skills, meet like-minded colleagues, expand your network, and shape the profession.

As you consider involvement, note that many committee meetings take place via video conference, allowing geographical participation from across the state.

AIA Colorado Housing Imperative

  1. (WHY)  Housing: The AIA Colorado Housing Committee recognizes Colorado faces an unprecedented complex housing crisis compounded by population growth and a shortage of housing units, while embracing a vision of Colorado as an equitable, livable, and sustainable state for all its citizens.
  2. (WHAT) Equitable Housing: The committee seeks improvements to equitable housing: Including affordable housing, housing supply, thoughtful increase to density, impediments to housing development, repositioning existing housing stock, and regulatory processes that may impact.
  3. (HOWAdvocacy: AIA Colorado advocates for housing policies that create opportunities in all communities and for all types of people. Utilize tools such as advocacy and consensus building, to promote the objective of equitable housing solutions for the state of Colorado.
  4. (WHEN) Action: The architecture profession can’t sit on the sidelines. Now is the time to act. The committee seeks to lay the groundwork so our association can lead and be responsive to equitable housing solutions.
  5. (WHO) Are you an AIA member who cares about these values and is passionate to provide solutions? Do you have a unique perspective or experience in practice with these matters? Please, join this new committee!
